Meta Platforms mentioned Thursday it’s pulling advertisements from Fb and Instagram trying to recruit plaintiffs for litigation accusing social media platforms of being addictive to younger customers, according to Reuters.
“We is not going to enable trial attorneys to revenue from our platforms whereas concurrently claiming they’re dangerous,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone mentioned in an announcement.
The transfer follows Meta’s loss in two trials over the allegations.
Greater than 3,300 lawsuits involving habit claims are pending in California state courtroom in opposition to Meta, Google, Snapchat mother or father Snap Inc. and ByteDance, TikTok’s mother or father firm, based on Reuters.
Companies akin to Morgan & Morgan, which was a part of the trial group that gained the Los Angeles social habit trial, are amongst those who positioned advertisements on Fb. A spokesperson for the agency didn’t reply to a request for remark from Reuters concerning the advertisements being pulled.
